Principal's Message
Welcome to Oak Flats High School
This is a comprehensive high school with an excellent reputation. The School has been awarded a Director – General’s School Achievement Award for its’ community of schools initiative. The award was given because of the close relationship it has built up with the local feeder primary schools.
The school was established in 1962 and is fortunate to have extensive grounds and modern facilities. We look forward to you helping us to maintain it in that condition.
One of the most outstanding features of the school is the excellence of our teachers. They are committed to building relationships based on respect for students and focusing students on success in learning.
Our school community is guided by three core values.
- respect for themselves, other students and staff
- responsibility for their own actions, and
- care for property and others.
We expect you to always try to do your best in your schoolwork and in your sporting interests and join as many school–based activities as you can. The more you put into your schooling, the greater will be the rewards you derive from it.
We will be doing our best to make sure that all aspects of the school give you the opportunity to develop as a responsible young man and woman in a stable, stimulating and happy environment.
The school insists on high standards of dress and behaviour from your child. We expect our students to respect the property of others and their right to receive an education and to be free of harassment. We will expect you to respect the right of teachers, to treat them civilly and allow them to do the job they are well trained to do. This means that you need to behave well at all times. Remember you have control over your actions and so you are responsible for all decisions you make and how you behave.
Oak Flats High School is a proud and successful high school. I encourage you as a parent to support and engage in the life of the school.
