Personal Development, Health & Physical Education - Subject Requirements
The most important requirement that a student can bring to PDHPE is the willingness to do their best - whether it be discussion in theory or out on the playing field “having a go”. Enjoy the practical activities and learn as much as you can in theory. It can only lead to an improved lifestyle and fantastic health in the future.
Theory
- Students will need an exercise book – approx 96 - 128 pages
- Junior Elective Students will need a loose leaf, A4 folder with dividers
- Senior Elective Students will need a loose leaf, A4 folder with dividers
Practical
- ALL JUNIOR STUDENTS MUST HAVE THE SCHOOL PE UNIFORM. It is also advised that Junior Elective Students have an additional PE shirt as they have more practical periods in a week and it is a requirement that ALL students be fully changed for practical classes.
- SENIOR SLR Students must also be changed into correct practical uniform for outdoor activities.
Bookwork information
A clear expectation exists that students will have all appropriate theory work in the one exercise book that is brought to each theory lesson. Staff will indicate where each topic starts and finishes.
Assignment and Research
Assignments will be set by individual teachers, dependent on the topics being taught. There will be a clear indication if these will be completed at home or by using the school’s resources.
Tests and Revision
An overall mark will not be issued for this subject. Students will achieve certain outcomes during the year and an overall assessment given at both the Half Yearly and Yearly report. Individual teachers may use topic tests as diagnostic tools to assist them in their assessments.
Where to get help and advice
The staffroom is situated next to Health 1 classroom and is near the Basketball courts. It is a hive of activity at all times as students are often organising sporting arrangements.
Important contact people in the faculty
Your classroom teacher is an important starting point but if anything is needed, Mrs Powell is available for subject matters and for Sport – Mr Wishart.
