Assessment
In Years 7-10, marks are awarded for the knowledge gained, skills learned, ability to communicate scientific knowledge and investigation skills.  Each term there is one significant assessable assignment given and one or two unit tests that cover both knowledge and skills.  Common tests, covering both knowledge/understanding and skills occur each Semester and contribute between 30 and 50% of total assessment for each year.  Science students in Years 8 and 10 are also required to complete the mandatory Student Research Project which contributes 10% towards final assessment.

In the senior years, assessment for each subject varies significantly and are listed in the assessment policies available from the individual teachers.

General Homework Policy
The Science Faculty tries hard not to overload students with homework that simply duplicates work covered in class, rather it should reinforce and extend their knowledge and skills.  Homework requirements increase as students progress through each year but should not be so great that they feel overwhelmed with work.  As a bare minimum, we ask that students read though and review the work covered in class and catch up on missed work each night.
